So far- Left Frankston at 08:00 in a car to Melbourne airport, plane to Hong Kong, another plane to Barcelona, taxi to accommodation, car back to airport, plane to Malta, car to port, ferry to Gozo and last but not least, car to accommodation. Left home at 8am on 31st August and eventually arrive at final destination at 02:30am on 2nd September and I’m tossed if I can figure out how long that is with the time difference but it’s a LONG time.
One of the smoothest plane rides I’ve ever had last night, especially as there was a most spectacular thunderstorm with magnificent displays of lightning lighting up the entire sky for as far as the eye could see on the right side of the plane. Even the ferry crossing was pretty smooth considering the storm crashing all around us.
Madness.
Blowing a gale outside but still a very mild 28 degrees. Had missed the first ferry by about ten minutes however the services run every half hour here so it wasn’t very long before we were off.
Absolutely pouring when we docked. Ooo err. Rain coming down sideways!!
Dora bravely navigated the road from the port which was up hill and the torrents of water cascading down those hills was reminiscent of tidal waves and almost enough to have us surfing back down. Simply too much water as all the roads were covered and the openings to the drains were so overwhelmed that the water was being belched upwards as if they were geysers.
Finally reached her wonderful home where she settled me in and we enjoyed a soothing cuppa looking like a couple of drowned rats. An hour and a half of conversation later we called it a night.
I’m SO looking forward to this week.
More to come,….
