8th September……

Once again it’s perfect weather (27 degrees) and we were up early today. I’m glad we packed most of it last night as the car was full when we set off for the port to catch the ferry across to Malta. Such stunning views in Gozo. I’m coming back to do the ‘touristy’ thingy next time. The ferry ride is quite short but you pass by some wonderful views. I saw where the blue grotto was (from a distance) and when we landed in Malta (because we we’d made it in really good time) Dora was able to take me for a short tour around Malta itself. I’ve taken some really nice photos which I hope to use in reference for some watercolours in the future.

Looking back over the past week I really feel so blessed. It really could have been so different but EVERYTHING about my week on Gozo has been wonderful. I have learned about different techniques of painting, been instructed in perspective, use of colours and the importance of composition. I am now seeing colours in things that previously haven’t existed in my mind’s eye and it’s all down to the lovely Dora. Honestly she is so generous and passionate about imparting her knowledge, I can see how she is so loved by her students.

The Accommodation was really lovely, from the twenty foot ceilings, the authentic atmosphere of the 300+ year old property and the tasteful decor. Not to mention the beautiful aquamarine coloured in-ground pool surrounded by greenery including an olive tree…. Cats are abundant in Gozo and everyone seems to dote on them. I was greeted each morning by the sounds of the local cockerel. Our meals were really tasty and Dora’s packed lunches for our Plein Air painting were also delicious. Honestly I can’t say enough about the week.

Currently waiting at the Malta Airport to board my Alitalia flight bound for Rome. Where I will be heading off to find the train which will take me to the Chiusi station and my next week of Art Tuition in Tuscany.

Cheerio Malta….
