A Wee Scottish diversion …..

Waking up early and having packed our overnight bags last night we headed out a little earlier than anticipated. Reaching the border at 10:40.

Such beautiful countryside. there was a place when we came over the hilltop, laid out before us was low hanging clouds appearing like a fluffy lake. We stopped for coffee in Hawick. Pronounced Hoik!

I’m not sure what the relevance of bulls are in this part of the world but here’s the two I’ve seen in two days. The first in England and the next in Scotland.

We continued on past more wind farms this time on the farm land amongst the animals. I still think they look very majestic as they move with the wind.

The other day’s wind farms were miles out to sea and there were simply hundreds of them.

Finally reached Edinburgh around 2, caught up with the other friends we were meeting at our airbnb. Had a little look around the shops then spruced ourselves up for a night on the town.

Decided to take the bus down to the city centre and once there found our way to a really good burger ‘joint’ that even did gluten free buns for me. Yummy. Did a little shopping but I liked the ‘kilt’ man better than the shopping!

We stopped at several bars and had several drinks. Found lots of interesting sights. I highly recommend Edinburg for a Friday night out. The castle is still on the hill but the lighting just doesn’t do it justice.

One more thing for this particular evening. I managed to have group photos at each venue and this time when I asked the waiter if he’d take a photo he ironically said yes of course what else was he going to do with his time(haha-it was super busy). Well he took my phone and I thought he’d pretended to take a selfie when he said just kidding – though I should check to see if it worked. But the funny thing was- he did take a selfie. And I guess he actually did as I requested initially as I’d not clarified it by saying ‘of us’. Anyway here is his selfie a lovely young Scottish lad.

After our last drink we called a cab. A brilliant taxi driver called Joe who had us in stitches on the way home telling us all about his fares that he’d refused if they showed him any kind of angst. I guess you’d have to be there but his lovely accent and his funny stories were hilarious. A great ambassador for Edinburgh cabbies

And it’s back to England tomorrow – goodnight…
