hasta la proxima vez…(until next time in Spanish)

The very last day on holiday and it’s gone really quickly.

Mostly because we simply lazed around for ages and only left the house around two for a late brunch.

We found a little cafe which was very organic. I had their gucamale dip which was different but very nice washed down with fresh squeezed orange juice.

We had decided that on this last day we would make use of the hop on hop off bus. The stop was very close so it was only a short walk and we purchased the tickets. Next bus and we were away. There were a couple of different companies but we had chosen city tours because the two routes suited us better. Actually we only did the green route.

Stopped at the cathedral and took photos from the outside only when the guard said they were finished for the day.

I’d not seen this cathedral previously so it was a nice surprise. I discovered a good little souvenir shop and managed to negotiate some good prices for some last minute presents.

Back to the bus stop to go about five stops to the sagrada familia. It has obviously become a larger building with the building not supposed to finish until 2026 (one hundred years after Gaudi’s death.

I would certainly like to return when it’s completed. It’s such an awesome sight.

Seven o’clock and decided to grab something close by before heading home. We found what appeared to be a nice restaurant and came highly recommended by some American women sitting close by. The women were from Seattle and very nice. Sadly we weren’t as happy with our meals. (Which is pretty crazy because we are used to such a low standard at the moment!).

Back to the bus stop and amazingly enough we caught the original bus. Both the guys running it recognised us and we had a very informative conversation with the conductor until we came to the end of the road and back to #1 stop. Christine was still peckish after having not been able to eat her prawns with the gut still attached (yuk).

So back to our favourite restaurant Nuria where the guys also recognised us. Another dessert I shouldn’t have had and hamburger for Christine, another sangria and we were very happy campers.

We had been sitting next to two young guys and I struck up a conversation. Found out that they were from Iran and their favourite place to live was Australia. They haven’t been there yet! A lovely end to the evening when our two young waiters farewelled us so beautifully.

Back home and bed. It was an early wake up call for 4:30am.
