The alarm went off at 4:30am as planned. It really wasn’t that difficult to get up and get ready. Using the tiny lift for us and all the bags was a little bit of a manoeuvre but managed it quite well. Only realising we hadn’t turned off the air conditioning before leaving but we had left the keys back in the room and one of them was for the lift. Oops. I messaged our host and all good.
Taxi was at the door as planned so he helped us lift the heavy cases up the steps and into the taxi.
Ok it was at this time we realised we weren’t heading for the exact same place!! We’d thought we were going to keep each other company for a while but no. Terminal 2 for the easy jet flight and we parted quickly enough the for the fountains not to get really going.
Terminal 1 is about 4kms away and I was in good time to check my luggage in. It was another snake line to reach the security gates but that was ok except for them thinking I was trying to smuggle half a bottle of water through in my back pack. It was the one I couldn’t find yesterday -it had slipped down the side. Another oops.
Had breakfast and was just leaving the ladies when I realised I didn’t have my phone. OMG. I ran lightening speed back to the loos and found two old lady travellers who didn’t speak very much English were just about to turn it in to staff. Phew. And hopefully my third and last oops.
Well I’m a bit of a silly clogs. I’d looked to see when my gate was announced and waited the mandatory 9 minutes. Only to find that gate S 41 is 23 minutes away. And I also had to run along the corridors and go down a lift to find the driverless train that’s going to take me there. Fourth oops.
I could have been on my way sooner if the lady at the desk would have answered my question. She just shooed me away 😣
Oh well. It’s going to be touch and go with this one. Running….running
Now I’ve had to come up the escalator and have to go through customs yet again. It’s 11:40 and my plane flys at 12:20. Only a heart bursting run for twenty mins several escalators and a bus ride on the tarmac with ‘last call’ being announced I have made it. Along with many others that also did that marathon. Phew again😓.
Finally…. onto the aeroplane and it would not be the seat I’d have opted for but I have a front seat (where people with children are)so heaps of leg room. Yay!!! Can totally stretch my legs out. And a special compartment specifically for my backpack. Ok. Things have reset. 9 hours to honkers.
All I want now is to have a less bumpy flight than the one on the old Iberian plane from Barcelona.
It’s up up and away!!
A little bumpy to start with but going well now.
Guess what. I actually had a proper piece of chicken breast with rice. A ‘real’ piece of chicken and it’s ‘aeroplane food’!!!!
In retrospect that seat wasn’t too brilliant-the lights from the loos kept on coming on through the ‘night’ period when I might have dozed off and people just stepping over your legs to get to the other side toilets. It was very irritating. Not such a good place on the plane.
Movies: toy story 4 – I cried
Met a couple at the Hong Kong airport Geoff and Lynne. From Frankston, literally up the road from me. We spent the waiting period together. They were really nice.
Sat next to an old Indian couple for the last leg (found they weren’t so old – same age as me!! haha)

The new self check at the Melbourne airport is BRILLIANT. I was out in a few minutes after having purchased my duty free alcohol.
A 50 minute drive home, and after what seemed a 50 minute shower and I’m “outta here”. Ahhhh SLEEP
Don’t know where you get your energy from H I’m out of breath just reading it LOL…..
