After a very uneventful plane trip to Rome I disembarked, actually found the carousel for my luggage and ventured forth. First point of call was the ticket machine. The Biglietto (ticket) I required was to reach Chuisi via Rome Termini. This was pretty easy but then after walking for what seemed a kilometre we found out that the trains had been cancelled and we had to line up for replacement buses.
Ok…I’m up for that…. so on we went and after around 20 minutes or so we reached the main railway station in Rome. Dora very kindly kept me company (remotely) for the trip. There had been plenty of time to reach the platform for my connection, however with the delay and the fact that I had to walk to station 1EST….I think it was around half a kilometre – I only JUST reached the platform with one minute to spare and yet again in Italy I have not punched my ticket! I only saw one machine and thought there would be another on the way. Hopefully I don’t get told off.
I’m sitting in the last carriage with the air conditioning REALLY struggling to keep us at boiling point.. I charged up my extra battery pack last night but on plugging it into my phone which is almost dead, I realise that it hasn’t worked. So much for my technology.
It’s my daughter PETA’s birthday today and yet again I have left her for an overseas vacation. I’m really sorry honey but I wish you a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY from Italy. I will make it up to you when I get back.
