Day 8 – 14th August – Off to Sterling!
A reasonably early rising, we’d already packed our bags, so we were out and heading back into town to have a last catch up with Helens family for breakfast. They’re all so lovely and very interesting and I was very fortunate to be included.
We had a lovely drive back through Glencoe where we took quite a few photos. It was a bit difficult to get a car park because it’s just such a popular place. The scenery is simply STUNNING. Sadly, my photos just don’t do it justice.

We stopped in Callander for a quick drink at a very nice pub, did a brief visit to the shops then back on the road.
After reaching Sterling and finding our accommodation, then lugging the cases up two flights of stairs, we headed off to have an early dinner at Witherspoons in the Main Street. Really good value- 11.91 pounds for fish and chips and a Kahula and Pepsi. Then two baileys for 7.40 pounds.
After we’d finished, we spotted a very tall man who looked like a Viking—beard, stature, the whole Norse vibe—except he was dressed in a tight black leather mini skirt and black stockings.
What the?
It was one of those moments where you’re not sure whether to stare or applaud the confidence.
We walked a bit, then caught a bus—£2.55 each to go about a kilometre.
Quite expensive for such a short hop, but it did save our legs, which were starting to protest.
Of course, I managed to press the wrong button for the stop—the disabled assistance one, no less.
Oops.
Cue flashing lights, driver confusion, and me trying to look apologetic while pretending I knew what I was doing.
Home by 8:25 and watched Ghost Town starring Ricky Gervais. 6744 steps Bed time…
