RETURN OF THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN

Doha – something else!

This brief stopover was amazing. As we were nearing the runway all you could see from the window were beautifully lit buildings. Thousands of colourfully lit streets. Honestly the photos won’t do it justice.

I don’t think any of us slept too well on that 14 hour leg but we departed the plane and began what would become a discovery tour. I had not been to Doha airport previously and I’d been told it had been ‘improved’. It definitely rivals Dubai in its opulence although I think it’s very different. The gardens were extraordinary. Someone had put a LOT of thought into the whole design.

We spent the first probably 20 minutes just walking to the departure area before coming into the airport proper, then just walking around taking many many photos of the place.

Eventually the three or so hours waiting for the next boarding and 6,500+ steps later we made our way through to Gate 7 of a million gates and settled in for the next 7 hours.

This time I’m going to have some sleep on the plane so Helen offered me one of her sleeping pills. WOW what a difference! I slept. And slept. And slept. Thankfully she hadn’t given me two tablets! the new neck collar works a treat too. No more crooked necks.
