RETURN OF THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN

Day 3 – 9th August Newcastle shopping and catching up with family (my pseudo family)

Got up early today and went down to the river Tyne to have a walk along the little inlet.

Returned to the quayside to have a quick breakfast in the restaurant attached to Tescos.

We got a few essentials came back to the accommodation then went out to visit Tom’s sister-in-law. Then on to visit his brother. Once those two visits were over we came back to our accommodation and basically went straight to bed. 10,231 steps.

Day 4 – 10th August – Tynemouth, Whitley Bay, markets and fish & chips.

Started off the morning heading down ‘the quayside’ to the market. It’s a nice walk and quite close to our accommodation. Tried on a few tops, purchased one and also found a new backpack. Helen purchased two!

We returned home briefly to get the car then drove over to park it near the railway station. On the train to Tynemouth where there was a really big market both sides of the actual station. Setting off for a pretty hefty walk to Whitley Bay. About half way there we had a drink at The Grand then Tom’s nephew and wife were meeting us at The Queens Head – Cullercoats.

A very interesting chat with Tony. He’s had a pretty amazing life so far. Many pics with a LOT of high profile people. Quite extraordinary. His wife Collette was really nice too. I’m very lucky to be included in the extended family.

By this time it was after three and we were getting a little peckish. Fish and chips were the highlight of the day. When we left there we reached Whitley Bay, had a delicious ice cream then caught the train back to Newcastle Central Station.

Another ‘million steps’, another stop to have yet another drink then finally Home! Just a mere 19,203 steps (and I still have to get to the bedroom). Basically packed our luggage up so we’d be ready to leave early. Tomorrow is another day…
