RETURN OF THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN

Day 9 – 15th August – Wallace Monument and the Battle of Bannockburn.

Up quite early and Helen and I walked across to Lidl Supermarket for some supplies.

It’s only a short drive out to the monument but quite a testing walk up a steep hill but we made it.

Met these headless statues on the way up.

Finally got to the top but we didn’t do the 264 steps to go UP the actual monument. So we chose a small walk to give us better views, took more photos then came back down on the bus.

We decided to go back to the place we discovered yesterday when the wrong address was put into maps. We’d meant to go to ‘Borestone crescent’ but we’d gone to Borestone Place. Where we’d discovered the back entrance to:

King of Scotland.

We came home for a cheese, ham, and tomato roll—yum. After a bit of a rest, we set off to find Gilmour’s Linn, a waterfall we’d heard about and were keen to see.

Sadly, it turned out to be a severe disappointment—mainly because we couldn’t find it, despite walking what felt like 7 million steps.
We’d been told the road was blocked off due to filming, and now we know why: they’re shooting the Highlander reboot, starring Henry Cavill.
So no waterfall, but apparently we were one wrong turn away from immortals battling in leather coats.

Nice view but not Gilmores Linn!

Never mind. We hopped back in the car- back to Sterling, parked the car at Tesco’s, walked up to Wetherspoon’s again where the drinks are amazingly inexpensive.

A sample of the costs.

Back to the car, back home and it’s now time to cook the pre-prepared meals we purchased. Yum. Very good value at 2.69pounds. 12,119 steps…..
